THE PLACE The Salazar Center for North American Conservation accelerates bold, collaborative solutions to the continent’s most pressing conservation challenges. Its Peregrine Accelerator for Conservation Impact is a re-granting and capacity-building program that helps annual cohorts of project teams put promising conservation solutions into action faster and more effectively. In 2025 it supported eight teams working across the North Atlantic Transboundary Landscape. THE CHALLENGE Each Accelerator team arrives with a promising idea but limited time to turn it into a fundable, implementation-ready plan. Over a six-month program, teams need to move from broad ambition to clear strategy, with the skills and confidence to design interventions that genuinely change the behaviours driving conservation outcomes. The challenge was to provide mentorship and training that builds strategic clarity and equips teams to deliver measurable impact. |

OUR APPROACH GCS supported the Salazar Center for North American Conservation through two engagements under its Peregrine Accelerator, providing strategic planning mentorship and facilitating workshops for conservation organisations across eastern North America. GCS founder and CEO Josh Noseworthy also delivered a cohort workshop, Behavior Change in Conservation: From Theory to Reality, equipping teams with a practical Know, Enable, Motivate framework for designing interventions grounded in how people actually make decisions. The session moved teams beyond awareness-raising toward strategies that enable and motivate real, lasting behaviour change. RESULTS & IMPACT Strategic planning mentorship delivered across two Peregrine Accelerator engagements A cohort workshop introducing the Know, Enable, Motivate framework for conservation behaviour change Teams equipped to translate conservation goals into implementation, evaluation, and fundraising-ready plans Guidance that helped a team pivot its strategy for greater long-term political traction and impact |

“Josh and the Global Conservation Solutions team provided excellent support for our 2025 Accelerator program. Josh is thoughtful, communicative, and energetic, and his ability to bridge high-level strategy with tactical execution was a demonstrable value-add for the program. Participants found his mentorship highly actionable; in one instance, his guidance helped a project team significantly pivot their strategy for greater long-term political traction and impact. I would happily work with GCS again.” |
